Our Early Years Foundation Stage classes may well be your child’s first experience of sustained contact with adults and children outside your close family and circle of friends.
We hope to make the transition from home to school a positive and happy experience for children and their parents.
The two Early Years classes are open plan, with activities arranged across both rooms and the shared outdoor area. Children are encouraged to make choices and decisions in their learning and develop a sense of independence in preparation for work in the coming years.
In the EYFS, children start to learn phonics which provides the building blocks to later success in reading. At New Park, we learn phonics daily in EYFS and KS1. We use Read Write Inc as part of our approach to phonics. As a new parent, you will be invited to parent workshops in EYFS where we demonstrate how your child will learn phonics. If you have any questions, please speak to your child's class teacher.
New Park Primary has one intake in September, each year for children whose fifth birthday falls between 1 September and 31 August inclusive.
We also accept children mid-year who are moving into the area or changing school, dependant on current numbers and spaces within year groups.
Any parents wishing to consider New Park are encouraged to contact the school on 01423-503011 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange to visit and look around.
Applications should then be made by completing a preference form which is available online at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-admissions . All admissions to school must be authorised by the Local Authority. For September entry into Reception Class, detailed guidance can be found on the North Yorkshire Council website: https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-admissions
Parents of Reception aged children are notified by the Local Authority towards the end of the previous April to confirm the allocation of a place for September
