We are always in the mood for good food!

We are Aspens Services, a market leading contract catering company and we specialise in school food.

We only work in the education sector so we know what our customers want.  Mixing this knowledge with an understanding of what’s hot in the food world sparks creativity and excitement in our chefs. Our kitchens provide delicious home cooked food each day and cater for individual dietary requirements.

We don’t just provide food, we play our part to educate children and raise awareness about nutrition, food and where it comes from, so that they can make informed and mindful choices. Feeding our future. Please see more at

Primary pupil with Cucumber Schools are the ideal place for children to start their food adventures so it’s the best time to encourage healthy food habits.

We make sure that our Food Festival menus are packed with comfort dishes and, at the same time, we help pupils to take their first steps with new tastes to explore. We make the most of fruit and vegetables that are in season, because that’s when they taste best and are the most planet friendly too.

Food Festival Menu

The menu rotates on a three-week basis and refreshes for Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons. Here’s the current menu:

Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are currently entitled to receive UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS! We think it’s a fantastic idea so please make sure that you support this initiative. Not only will you be saving money but you will also be giving your child a nutritionally balanced meal to fuel their bodies for the rest of the learning day.

Please note that this is not to be confused with FREE SCHOOL MEALS that you may be entitled to for children in any year.

If you think you may be entitled to free school meals you should make an application to the local education authority:

> Free School Meals Information Hub
> Free School Meals Application Form

Pupils in Nursery and Key Stage 2 can continue to take a hot meal if they wish however these will need to be paid for. Dinner money needs to be paid in advance of the week they are to be taken in weekly or half-termly instalments. We are unable to accept cash and ask that payments are made to school via ParentPay. Currently, the weekly cost for a school meal is £12.50 per week.

If dinner money is not received for the week meals will not be provided the following week and a packed lunch must be brought from home. Should your child wish to change from school meals to packed lunch then one week’s notice is required.

Special Diets

Special diets are an integral part of our catering provision, whether as a result of an ethical or religious belief or a food intolerance or allergy. To register this as a requirement please complete and return the special diets form to the school as soon as possible.

Packed lunches

If you choose to send your child with a packed lunch please note that it should be as equally healthy and nutritious as school dinners. We do not allow crisps, chocolate, sweets, nuts or any food with added sugar (choose sugar-free yoghurts, jelly and dried fruit). Water is freely available to all at lunchtimes, no other drinks are permitted. There are excellent lunchbox suggestions available at

Fruit and milk in school

All children can bring a piece of fruit to school for a mid-morning snack if they wish. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with free fruit/vegetables and a drink of milk (up until their 5th birthday). You can continue to purchase milk after this if you wish. Contact the office for further details.
