Learning at Home
Here you can find resources for learning at home in the event your child has to self-isolate. You and your child can login to Microsoft Teams to see work set by the class teacher and to ask questions/submit work you have completed. You can also make good use of https://ttrockstars.com/, https://www.spellingshed.com/ and https://play.numbots.com/ using the login details sent to your child. Please email your bubble teachers or the office if you get stuck!.
There are lots of other free resources available online. We recommend the following to support your children at home.
Phonics
For children in Nursery, Reception and KS1 you can find daily Read Write Inc. phonics lessons on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ?safe=true
Quentin Blake Art Challenge
Over the lockdown period, Sir Quentin Blake created ten rainbow illustrations inspired by all the rainbows he was spotting in people’s windows. In his drawings, he imagines the rainbow as an object – something that can be touched or held.
We would like every New Park pupil to create their own imaginative version of Sir Quentin’s drawings, so we can create a wonderful and positive display at school to show us coming together during this time. Your challenge is to think of how a rainbow
could morph into something else. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
BBC Bitesize
During school closure the BBC are providing daily lessons and resources on their Bitesize revision pages. Every day there are three lessons available for each year group. The lessons start with a video and then have tasks and activities for the children to complete. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons
Oak National Academy
Oak National Academy is a new collection of high-quality lessons and online resources. Backed by the Government, it has been created in response to the coronavirus lockdown. The online classroom is completely free and includes video lessons, quizzes and worksheets for primary and secondary. https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule
Audiobooks
Reading at home with your children remains one of the best things you can do to support their learning. Why not encourage them to listen to an audiobook too! Audible have made all their children’s audiobooks free - they can be found at https://stories.audible.com/discovery
Children should continue to read at home daily – books are best but newspapers, magazines and web pages all count too!
Our Space Mission Instant Recall Facts (SMIRFs) sheets are available below – please practise these maths skills with your children. They should be able to complete all tasks/answer questions within three seconds
Times Table Rock Stars and Spelling Shed should be used to practise times table and spelling knowledge.
