Meals and snacks
All pupils up to the age of 7 are now entitled to a free school meal. It is up to parents to decide if they wish to take up this option. Otherwise children can bring in their own packed lunches. The school has a newly fitted kitchen where fresh meals are cooked daily, with an alternative to the main option always available.
Pupils in Key Stage 2 can continue to take a hot meal if they wish however these will need to be paid for. Dinner money needs to be paid in advance of the week they are to be taken in weekly or half-termly instalments. We are unable to accept cash and ask that a BACS payment is made to our school bank account referencing the child's name and school meals: please contact Sam Williams, School Administrator on email@example.com for details. If you are unable to make a BACS payment then a cheque made payable to New Park Primary Academy is acceptable. Currently, the weekly cost for a school meal is £10.50 per week.
If dinner money is not received for the week meals will not be provided the following week and a packed lunch must be brought from home. Should your child wish to change from school meals to packed lunch then one week’s notice is required.
If a child is absent for part of the week, a credit will be given the following week however if a child is sent home ill after 9.30am. it is not possible to credit a meal as they will have already been ordered. If your child has an appointment and will arrive after 9.30am please inform the office.
If you think you may be entitled to free school meals you should make an application to the local education authority: Free-school-meals >>
If parents prefer, children may bring a packed lunch to school. Do label your child’s lunch box clearly, for many are very similar. Please support us in our efforts to teach children the importance of eating healthily by providing a simple well-balanced packed meal for your child—sweets should never be included. We provide water for every child, so there is no need to include a drink unless you particularly wish to. For obvious reasons no glass bottles and no fizzy drinks please.
Fruit and milk in school
All children are encouraged to have a fruit/vegetable mid – morning snack.
Our younger children (Foundation, Years 1 and 2) are provided with free fruit/vegetables and a drink of milk (up until their 5th birthday). You can continue to purchase milk after this if you wish. See Miss Williams in the office for further details
